A: One of the many things that makes WashU such a great university is the unique opportunity for students to own and operate their own businesses on campus. As part of the Student Entrepreneurial Program (StEP), students can apply concepts learned in the classroom to develop a business plan, and then plan, launch, and run that business. WashU has seven storefronts, conveniently located in the heart of the campus’ student housing, the South 40. Student owners are responsible for financing, outfitting their respective spaces and all aspects of their venture, including staffing, ordering supplies, accounting, filing licenses, purchasing insurance, buying equipment, cleanly maintaining the space, advertising, paying rent, and taking care of all other functions of any business. Q: My student’s birthday is coming up. Can you help me get him or her the perfect gift?
A: WashU students love our wide selection so why not let your student choose what they want, your treat? Visit our online shop to choose your gift size and place your order! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
Q: How can I use your candy at my event?
A: Bear-y Sweet Shoppe items are perfect for events! We can customize the selection for you depending on theme, colors, or time of the year. We offer bulk candy for a “candy bar” so that attendees can choose their own candy to make their own snack bag or we offer pre-made gift bags that make the perfect favor or present. We also open our store for special occasions if you would like to bring a large group in, outside of our regular business hours. Visit our Special Orders page to learn more!
Q: What do you sell?
A: We have over 80 different types of gummies, chocolates, nuts, dried fruit, and yogurt covered items, along with novelty, nostalgic, and foreign candies. For a complete listing visit our selection page!
Q: Can I suggest a candy for you to sell?
A: Of course! We have a suggestion jar in our store that we review weekly or you can email us (below). Depending on availability, bin space, and how requested the item is, we may have it the next time you stop by!
